10 Lake O HaraComments: The first 8 pictures show my trip to Mt Edith, this is a day hike I did while Robert and Colette did laundry. When I returned they had prepared a beautiful tour and climb around the Lake O'Hara region. There, the first day we did the classic Alpine Circuit. The next day we climbed Grassi Ridge (5.6) "Many Beginner's First Climb" according to the book of lies (or Selected Alpine Climbs), then we went up to the Abott Pass Hut (guess where, yes on Abott Pass) and we climbed Mt. LeFroy and I later went to Mt Victoria. 2003 11 01 ErinVisitComments: My friend Erin from the States (or how we say here, les Etats Unis) came to visit for few days. I had just acquired my voiture so we did a little tour around. The first day I suggested a little rock climbing at Col du Coq, we (I) was surprised to find the snow line so low (1000meters), below our climb :) while we were climbing there were people tele skiing at dent de crolles!!!...to remedy the situation the next day we went to Les Calanques near Marseille (the 3rd largest city in France). We climbing with a nice seaside backdrop. we wont talk about getting lost in the "10 minute" approach (1hr). Then we headed for Courtmayeur in Italy, with a little stop in Monaco, because of the large number of cops I avoided racing in the streets. Never mind that we were not in season and that the town was vide (empty). We hopped (rather ducked) through the Mont Blanc Tunnel and headed for Chamonix. checked out the town and asked for advice. The recommendations for those without snowshoes (us) was to check out Col du Balme, this worked out great because we were able to step into Switzerland. We stayed at a ca mpground in town that afforded nice views and vistas for my photography. We closed with a nice traditional Fondue dinner back in Grenoble. It was fun. 2005 10 29 Gastronomic Climbing Grand VanComments: The future of climbing is here, how to mix the best of both worlds, it is well known that in the middle ages the feasts that kings in the court Versaille and other famous courts could last half a day with various courses... and obviously, mountain "courses" could last more than half-days also. Thus the future of climbing is called "La grimpe Gastronomique"... you will have to watch the video to understant (there are two versions, a low and a "high" quality).
The route done here is the Brianna route, 4c (this is important, c.f. video). Very beautiful colors for the lakes and nice background for this mountain feast. Don't really know what more to add, but just to say that this is the bonheur and bon vivre.
