The snow is here! Saw a message by Jerome about going skiing on tuesday, and thus been forced to quickly amortize my skis, I sent him a text... The first part was through the forest, very nice and comfortable going up in backcountry skis (as oppose to walking). Then we got up to the cirque and I asked him where were we going... He said up some col pointing up. It did not look that far, little did I know that it was way deeper! and we could not see it, fortunately he broke trail all the way.
As we are going up, I am thinking..."Oof good thing we are going down the back, I would not want to go down this". Finally make it to the top, he takes a peek over a small bump, and says, ok time to change to downhill configuration. Cool, finally!, then I ask him, "where are we going down?", he replis the same way we went up, super. In the end, it was not as bad as I thought, although I still need to work on my backcountry technique. The most interesting part was actually going down through the forest... here at least you have the liberty of when you can make the turns... the trees in the forest kind of force you to turn (otherwise they force you to stop :). Hmm... looking forward to a great season and 2005!.
